A 5 Year Old SmOrl Person

From the smallest SmOrl in Brixton to a school girl in Te Atatu, our precious first daughter Orla turned 5 and had her first day at Matipo Primary School yesterday.

Festivities kicked off on Saturday with a family afternoon tea. Ganny Di arrived in the morning armed with chocolate cake for Orla to decorate.

Then it was time to open a pressie or two...

Thank you Great Great Aunt Flis for the bead set!

It was a great chance for Flis and Poppa Don to have cuddles with Vita.

On Sunday we threw her a Popstar Princess Party with 25 of her friends.
It was a cracking Winters day here on the Pen!

Our beautiful and talented friend Stacey, Lola's Mummy ran the disco for us...

She did an amazing job!
Sylvie's friend Amelie Rowsell.
Mila Luke, Orla and Lola Yates

Teo Rowsell and Tom Bishop on backing band.
Teo with Max Robb Markham who is also starting school with Orla this month.
Sylvie making a hand made love heart.

Birthday cake time! Made by Daddy of course.

Teo Rowsell, Ryan Green, William Henshaw, Amelie Rowsell and Shana Aukett.

Sylvie with cousin Oscar.
Nana Raine and Ganny Di

 Thanks for coming!
 Such a happy day...
… and wonderful to have Ganny with us all weekend.

On Wednesday Orla had her last day at kindy.
As is customary, kindy leavers decorate their own number 5...

And then choose their final mat time activities.
Kindy friends Mereana, Ella Woodley and Mila Luke

Here is Orla wearing the kindy feather korowai. Each leaver sews a feather onto the cloak for the leaving ceremony…

… and is seated on the Birthday Chair.

Morning of her actual birthday, June 5th.

Beautiful handmade cushion from Auntie Jecky.
Ipod Shuffle!
Ready for school.
Off we go!
Out the gate...
… through the park...
… over the road...
… and we're there!

Home again after a very exciting day.

Orla took these photos of us...

Second day today and she's loving it...
Meanwhile, Vita is pushing herself up and sometimes rolling over.

5 years ago, we had Orla and now we have three little smalls. So very lucky.
